Dr. Aya-ay was born in Charleston, West Virginia, and grew up in the small town of Chelyan. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class and received magna cum laude honors with her bachelor’s degree in Biology at West Virginia University. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2003. She ventured to Tampa, Florida, to train in General Surgery, Burn Surgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of South Florida. Dr. Aya-ay began her Plastic Surgery private practice in 2010 and is now located in North Tampa, Florida. Dr. Aya-ay is the CEO and Founder of Melanie L. Aya-ay, MD Plastic Surgery as well as Vivia MedSpa. Her primary goal and vision for her practice is to provide comprehensive and customized care to each of her patients in an environment that is comfortable and safe.
Dr. Melanie Aya-ay has received her board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The scope of Dr. Aya-ay’s practice includes a full complement of both cosmetic and reconstructive breast Plastic Surgery. Her aesthetic practice includes an array of surgical and minimally invasive techniques. From botox, fillers, lasers, and Morpheus8 to breast augmentations, breast lifts, tummy tucks, lip lifts, labiaplasties, facelifts and many other surgical options, Dr. Aya-ay will review each option that will help you achieve your goals. From a reconstructive standpoint, she specializes in breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Dr. Aya-ay offers the complete spectrum of body contouring for the post-bariatric or massive weight loss patient. She is known for her skill and excellence in revision surgery, specifically for difficult breast surgery revisions.
Education of her patients as well as her colleagues is an important part of Dr. Aya-ay’s role in the community and nationally. Dr. Aya-ay is an Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) National Trainer for Facial Aesthetics and AMI National Speaker for Plastic and Regenerative Medicine. She is honored to be the first female surgeon to hold this dual faculty position with Allergan. Dr. Aya-ay is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Personal Life
Dr. Aya-ay met and married her husband during medical school and they welcomed three children born during her surgical training. Being a mom is her greatest and most rewarding accomplishment. She has two fur babies as well that you may see from time to time on social media. She enjoys exercise, traveling, boating, and most of all spending time with her family.
